Immaculate Kyakwita

REGIONAL COORDINATOR - Southern region

The Southern Region is one of the branches of Scripture Union Uganda (SUU). The Southern Region encompasses several districts in Uganda and plays a vital role in spreading the Gospel message and promoting Christian fellowship among youth in the area.

The region focuses on bringing young people together, encouraging them to explore and deepen their relationship with God, and equipping them with spiritual resources. They organize and facilitate activities such as camps, conferences, retreats, discipleship programs, and youth rallies. These events serve as platforms for young people to encounter God, develop their faith, and build meaningful relationships with fellow believers.

The branch actively engages with churches, schools, and communities in the Southern Region, collaborating with local leaders and organizations to reach out to young people effectively. SUU promotes a holistic approach to youth ministry, addressing not only their spiritual needs but also their social, emotional, and intellectual well-being.

In addition to organizing events and programs, the region encourages young people to participate in Bible reading programs, small group discussions, and community service projects. They provide resources such as Bible study materials, devotional guides, and Christian literature to help young people grow in their faith and understanding of God’s Word.

The Southern Region branch of Scripture Union Uganda (SUU) engages in various activities to fulfill its mission of nurturing and equipping young people with biblical values and principles. Here are some of the activities conducted by SUU in the Southern Region:

  1. School Clubs: The branch establishes school clubs across the region. These clubs provide a platform for students to come together, study the Bible, discuss relevant topics, and grow in their understanding of the Christian faith. Activities in Bible clubs include Scripture readings, group discussions, prayer, and sharing personal testimonies.

  2. Christian Camps: The Central Region Branch organizes Christian camps and retreats, offering young people an immersive and transformative experience. These camps provide an opportunity for participants to engage in worship, Bible study, and fellowship with other believers. Camp activities often include outdoor games, team-building exercises, talent shows, and evening devotionals.

  3. Leadership Training: Recognizing the importance of equipping young leaders, the branch conducts leadership training programs. These trainings focus on developing leadership skills, character formation, and spiritual maturity. Participants learn how to effectively lead Bible studies, organize events, and positively impact their peers and communities.

  4. Discipleship Programs: The Central Region Branch emphasizes the importance of discipleship in nurturing young believers. Discipleship programs are designed to mentor and guide individuals in their faith journey. These programs typically involve one-on-one or small group settings where experienced mentors provide guidance, accountability, and support to young believers.

  5. Evangelism and Outreach: The branch encourages young people to share their faith through evangelism and community outreach initiatives. They organize evangelistic campaigns, door-to-door visits, and community service projects to reach out to those who have not yet heard the gospel. These activities aim to demonstrate Christ’s love in practical ways and share the message of salvation.

  6. Workshops and Seminars: Scripture Union Uganda’s Central Region Branch conducts workshops and seminars on various topics of interest and relevance to young people. These events address issues such as relationships, identity, purpose, moral values, and social challenges. The workshops provide a platform for open discussions, learning, and personal growth.

  7. School Assemblies and Presentations: The branch collaborates with schools to conduct assemblies and presentations that focus on spiritual development and character formation. These sessions often include motivational talks, drama performances, and interactive discussions that engage students and encourage them to live out their faith in their daily lives.
