Arthur Omusolo Kamya

REGIONAL COORDINATOR - eastern region

The Eastern Region is one of the branches of Scripture Union Uganda (SU Uganda). SU Uganda operates through various regional branches across the country, and the Eastern Region branch plays a significant role in advancing the organization’s mission in that particular area.

Located in the eastern part of Uganda, the Eastern Region is known for its diverse communities, vibrant culture, and beautiful landscapes. It encompasses several districts, including Mbale, Soroti, and Tororo, among others.

The region is dedicated to creating opportunities for young people to encounter God, grow in faith, and live out biblical values. The branch organizes various programs and activities designed to meet the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of the youth in the region.

One of the key initiatives of the Eastern Region branch is the establishment and support of SU school clubs in different educational institutions. These clubs serve as platforms for young people to gather, study the Bible, and engage in discussions about faith and life. The SU school clubs provide a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their beliefs, ask questions, and develop their relationship with God.

In addition to school clubs, the Eastern Region branch organizes camps, retreats, conferences, and rallies that bring together young people from various schools and churches. These events provide opportunities for fellowship, worship, and learning. They also offer platforms for young people to discover and utilize their talents in music, drama, sports, and other creative expressions.

The Eastern Region branch of SU Uganda also prioritizes leadership development among young people. They offer training programs, mentorship, and discipleship opportunities to equip and empower emerging leaders. Through these initiatives, the branch aims to raise a generation of young people who will become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.

Furthermore, the Eastern Region branch actively collaborates with churches, schools, and other youth-focused organizations to amplify their impact and reach more young people with the message of hope and transformation found in the Bible. By fostering partnerships and engaging in community outreach programs, SU Uganda seeks to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people in the Eastern Region.

The Eastern Region organizes a wide range of activities to engage and empower young people in their faith journey. Here are some examples of the activities conducted by the branch:

  1. SU School Clubs: The branch establishes and supports Scripture Union school clubs in various educational institutions across the Eastern Region. These clubs provide a platform for students to gather, study the Bible, and engage in discussions about faith and life. They often meet on a regular basis during lunch breaks or after school hours.

  2. Camps and Retreats: The Eastern Region branch organizes residential camps and retreats for young people. These events typically take place during school holidays or weekends and offer a unique opportunity for participants to disconnect from their regular routines and focus on spiritual growth. Camps and retreats include times of worship, Bible study, prayer, team-building activities, and recreational fun.

  3. Conferences and Rallies: The branch hosts conferences and rallies that bring together young people from different schools and churches within the region. These gatherings aim to inspire, challenge, and equip young individuals in their faith journey. They feature dynamic speakers, engaging worship, relevant teaching, and interactive sessions that address relevant topics and issues.

  4. Leadership Training: The Eastern Region branch recognizes the importance of leadership development among young people. They organize leadership training programs, workshops, and seminars to equip emerging leaders with necessary skills, biblical knowledge, and mentorship. These initiatives empower young individuals to become leaders in their schools, churches, and communities.

  5. Outreach Programs: The branch actively engages in community outreach initiatives. They organize activities such as community service projects, evangelistic campaigns, and social impact programs. These efforts enable young people to put their faith into action, serving and making a positive difference in their local communities.
