Scripture union has been in existence for over 60 years in Uganda doing ministry in schools reaching out to the children and youth.  With its operations in terms of regions, central region is one of the oldest regions  that has laid foundation and growth for the scripture union ministry.

The central region has always been the face of the ministry and currently it covers 18 districts which include; Kampala, Wakiso, Luwero, nakasongola, Nakaseke,Mukono,Kayunga,Bukwe,Buvuma,Mpigi,Gomba

Butambala,Mityana,Kasanda and Mubende .

Central region currently works with a committed team of 6 full time volunteers and 30 part time volunteers

With the mandate to reach out to children and youth in schools, the central region does that through its core programs which include: Evangelism, Discipleship and Life skills.

Its headquarters are located in the capital city, Kampala. The branch is known for its active engagement with schools, churches, and communities in the region, aiming to transform lives and impact society through the message of the gospel.

They achieve this through various activities such as School Clubs, Christian camps, leadership training, and discipleship programs. These initiatives create platforms for young people to discover their purpose, develop a personal relationship with God, and live out their faith in practical ways.

School clubs are a core component of the region’s work. These clubs are established in schools and provide a supportive environment for students to study the Bible, engage in discussions, and grow in their understanding of the Christian faith. Through clubs, young people are encouraged to apply biblical principles to their daily lives, develop a strong moral compass, and become positive influences in their communities.

In addition to school-based activities, the Central Region Branch also organizes Christian camps and retreats. These events serve as a catalyst for spiritual growth, fellowship, and mentorship. They provide an opportunity for young people to break away from their daily routines, connect with other believers, and deepen their understanding of Scripture. Christian camps often feature activities such as worship, Bible study, sports, team-building exercises, and interactive sessions that address relevant issues faced by young people.

The Central Region Branch of Scripture Union Uganda organizes a wide range of activities to fulfill its mission and engage young people in the central region. Here are some of the activities commonly conducted by the branch:

  1. School Clubs: The branch establishes school clubs across the region. These clubs provide a platform for students to come together, study the Bible, discuss relevant topics, and grow in their understanding of the Christian faith. Activities in Bible clubs include Scripture readings, group discussions, prayer, and sharing personal testimonies.

  2. Christian Camps: The Central Region Branch organizes Christian camps and retreats, offering young people an immersive and transformative experience. These camps provide an opportunity for participants to engage in worship, Bible study, and fellowship with other believers. Camp activities often include outdoor games, team-building exercises, talent shows, and evening devotionals.

  3. Leadership Training: Recognizing the importance of equipping young leaders, the branch conducts leadership training programs. These trainings focus on developing leadership skills, character formation, and spiritual maturity. Participants learn how to effectively lead Bible studies, organize events, and positively impact their peers and communities.

  4. Discipleship Programs: The Central Region Branch emphasizes the importance of discipleship in nurturing young believers. Discipleship programs are designed to mentor and guide individuals in their faith journey. These programs typically involve one-on-one or small group settings where experienced mentors provide guidance, accountability, and support to young believers.

  5. Evangelism and Outreach: The branch encourages young people to share their faith through evangelism and community outreach initiatives. They organize evangelistic campaigns, door-to-door visits, and community service projects to reach out to those who have not yet heard the gospel. These activities aim to demonstrate Christ’s love in practical ways and share the message of salvation.

  6. Workshops and Seminars: Scripture Union Uganda’s Central Region Branch conducts workshops and seminars on various topics of interest and relevance to young people. These events address issues such as relationships, identity, purpose, moral values, and social challenges. The workshops provide a platform for open discussions, learning, and personal growth.

These activities collectively create a vibrant and engaging environment for young people in the Central Region to grow in their faith, develop their potential, and make a positive impact in their communities.
